Just beyond London city limits, either to the north or the west, is Middlesex Centre. Most of this Municipality is prime agricultural land. Agricultural uses represent one of its most significant economic and community assets. As you enter the region you will be greeted by the most incredible scenic countryside. No matter what the season, Middlesex Centre offers visitors a variety of activities like cross-country skiing, skating, snowmobiling, hiking, fishing, golf, canoeing and horseback riding, just to name a few. You can’t help but notice the rolling hills flanking the historical Thames River. The river is responsible for carving out the southern part of this municipality. It winds through much of this area, as does the Canadian National Railway. In the village of Komoka - although no longer a stop – is a Railway station now a museum. It houses many artifacts and proudly displays a fully restored steam locomotive from 1913. Do you pine for the thrill and excitement of a NASCAR sanctioned race? Look no further than Delaware in Middlesex Centre. From April till September there is a full schedule of races at the Speedway to excite any race fan. In Ilderton you will find Fall Fair highlights like the Calf Scramble, Mutton Bustin and Lawn Mower races. This 158 year old fair focuses on celebrating community achievements in agriculture, creative arts and the rural lifestyle. This municipality boasts numerous unique shops offering giftware, gourmet foods, a variety of crafts and one of a kind art. Popular today not only as a form of beauty, but as a means of relaxation, is the spa experience; bring it together with a visit to the county and ask yourself... what could be more relaxing? Cafes, diners, casual dining and a couple of legendary favourites have drawn visitors to the area for many years. Great food, welcoming service and ample parking make this part of the county the ideal stop for snowmobilers and motorcyclists. Coldstream, Ilderton, Birr, Arva, Bryanston, Denfield, Komoka, Killworth, Melrose, Lobo and Delaware all come together to comprise Middlesex Centre. It is truly the “community of communities.”
